Galaxy S25 Ultra Has Super Fast Charging Issues, But a Fix is Underway

by | Feb 17, 2025 | Galaxy S, News

Samsung’s latest Galaxy S25 series features 45W wired Super Fast Charging in the S25+ and S25 Ultra, but the base model is limited to just 25W. Even though the Galaxy S25 series improves Super Fast Charging (based on our tests), some Galaxy S25+ and S25 Ultra users are reporting issues. The complaints over charging issues related to use of 5A cables with a 45W charger are piling up on Samsung’s forums, Reddit, and X. For what it’s worth, we haven’t noticed any major issues charging our S25+ or S25 Ultra units thus far. Still, the problem seems relatively widespread based on these reports.

What’s happening is that users are reporting charging inconsistencies, with some phones charging slower than expected or frequently disconnecting and reconnecting when plugged in. Users on Reddit and Samsung’s community forums have pointed out that chargers that worked with previous Galaxy models are now struggling to fast-charge the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Some of these affected phones display “Super Fast Charging 2.0” on the lock screen but still take hours to reach a full charge.

Samsung confirms Super Fast Charging issues with Galaxy S25+ and S25 Ultra

Thankfully, Samsung Italia has acknowledged the charging issues with the Galaxy S25+ and S25 Ultra. The company confirmed that there’s a problem when using the 5A cable, and an upcoming update will fix it. In the meantime, our friends over at Android Police recommend a few workarounds:

  • Try using a 3A USB-C cable with your 45W charger, instead of the official 5A cable and 45W charger. Keep in mind, thanks to the new 15V/3A charging spec, this should not slow down charging speeds.
  • Turn off Super Fast Charging in the settings to stabilize charging, although it’ll be slower.

For what it’s worth, this issue only affects wired charging on the S25+ and S25 Ultra, while the regular Galaxy S25 (with 25W charging) seems unaffected. And if you’re using wireless charging, you’re in the clear.
