If recent rumors hold true, Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Slim could become a dream phone for many. Its alleged rear camera setup looks impressive with three high-resolution sensors, including a new 200MP primary shooter. The phone might also incorporate Samsung’s recently introduced ALoP (All Lens on Prism) technology.
Galaxy S25 Slim camera specs leaked early
A few days ago, a trusted source claimed that Samsung will offer an “Ultra” camera setup on the Galaxy S25 Slim. They didn’t share specific details but hinted at a 200MP primary camera and advanced zoom capabilities similar to Ultra flagships. X user @saaaanjjjuuu recently posted “expected” camera specs for the phone.
According to the report, the slim flagship will feature a new, ISOCELL HP5 200MP camera with an optical format of 1/1.56 inches. That’s a smaller sensor than the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s 1/1.3-inch 200MP camera. The Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to feature an unchanged unit, though we wouldn’t be surprised if it features the same sensor as the Slim.
The Ultra and Slim models may also feature the same ultrawide camera. There are already rumors about Samsung upgrading from a 12MP unit to a 50MP one on the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The new report hints at the same sensor for the Slim. The company announced this 1/2.76-inch sensor (ISOCELL JN5) in June 2024.
The biggest upgrade might come in the form of a new zoom camera. The Galaxy S25 Slim allegedly reuses the 50MP ISOCELL JN5 for its 3.5x zoom lens. The Ultra model is expected to keep an unchanged dual zoom setup consisting of 3x and 5x lenses. The former is already showing signs of aging, so a new sensor would be a welcome addition.
However, if this rumor materializes, Samsung could face backlash for not upgrading the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s 3x zoom camera. We hope it does, even if that means a 3.5x lens and a 5x lens. The Korean media recently said that the Galaxy S25 Slim could make a surprise appearance at Samsung’s Unpacked event in January. Expect more leaks soon.
