Samsung is finally rolling out native call recording on the Galaxy S25 series in the US running One UI 7.0. This feature has been available elsewhere for years, but due to legal restrictions, US users were left out — until now. While the company still doesn’t support automatic call recording stateside, you can at least manually record calls without the need for third-party apps. Here’s how to enable and use call recording on your Galaxy S25, S25+, or S25 Ultra.
How to enable call recording on Galaxy S25 series
Before you can start recording calls, you’ll need to activate the feature in your Phone app settings.
- Open the Phone app on your Galaxy S25, S25+, or S25 Ultra.
- Tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
- Select Settings from the dropdown menu.
- Scroll down and select Call Recording.
- Turn on the toggle to enable call recording. (Note: You’ll need to manually activate this feature for each call.)
Once that’s done, you’ll see an option to record calls during your conversations. However, since automatic call recording is still off-limits in the US, you’ll have to tap the record button each time.
How to record a call on your Galaxy S25
Now that call recording is enabled, you can tape your convos. Remember, the person on the other end will always be notified when the call is being recorded. That’s just how it works in the US to stay in line with legal requirements.
- Make or receive a call as usual.
- Once the call is connected, tap the Record button that appears on the screen.
- A voice prompt will let the other person know that the call is being recorded (standard practice to comply with US law).
- To stop the recording, tap the Record button again or simply hang up.
How to access your call recordings
After you’ve recorded a call, you can listen to it, delete it, or even get a transcript if you’ve enabled Transcript Assist.
- Open the Phone app and go to the Recents tab.
- Tap the recorded call entry, then select View recording and transcript.
- From here, you can play back, delete, or favorite the recording.
- If enabled, Transcript Assist will provide a text version of your recorded call.
- You can also generate a summarized transcript, which gives you the highlights of the conversation without needing to sift through the whole thing.
