In the last few months, there’ve been several reports claiming that Samsung flagships have either exploded while charging or, in some cases, even during regular use. Here’s another case: a user claims their Galaxy S25 FE exploded while charging overnight.

Galaxy S25 FE reportedly catches fire and explodes while charging

A Galaxy S25 FE owner, based in Canada, claims the device exploded while charging overnight. The owner described a frightening experience that unfolded while they and their young child were asleep nearby.

According to the user, the phone was placed on the bed but not under a pillow. They clarified it was positioned slightly above their head. They were suddenly awakened by loud popping sounds, similar to fireworks, as fragments of the device scattered across the room.

The situation quickly escalated into a safety hazard. The user reported minor physical injuries, including singed hair and a small burn on the neck. More concerning was the emotional impact on their eight-year-old son, who witnessed the explosion and was left deeply shaken.

The device was reportedly being charged using its original cable paired with a third-party 20W USB PD charger. The phone was also inside a leather wallet case that contained coins. It was purchased new from Virgin Plus about six months ago, and the user says they’ve since contacted Samsung Canada but haven’t received a response yet.

Emergency responders were called to the scene and managed the aftermath, including dealing with smoke and safely handling the damaged phone. Firefighters reportedly submerged the device in salt water. The room sustained minor property damage, along with a persistent chemical odor from the battery fire.

SammyGuru has reached out to Samsung Canada with a set of questions and will update this story when a response is received.
