Samsung is continuing the rollout of its May 2026 security update, with the latest expansion reaching the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S23 series in the United States. The update is now available for carrier-locked models on select networks and marks the first security maintenance release (SMR) for these devices following their One UI 8.5 upgrade. Factory-unlocked models should get it soon.

Galaxy S24 and S23 phones get Samsung’s May 2026 update in the US

The latest security patch is now available for all Galaxy S24 and S23 phones, including the Fan Edition (FE) models, in the US. This follows an earlier release for the Galaxy S25 and S26 lineups. All of these devices are now running One UI 8.5.

The new firmware build version for the main Galaxy S24 flagships is DZE2, while that for the S24 FE is DZE1. Likewise, the Galaxy S23 flagships are getting the May 2026 security update with the build version FZE3. It’s FZE4 for the S23 FE. As usual, the build number may vary depending on the model and carrier.

The official changelog provides little detail beyond confirming the inclusion of the latest Android security patches. Samsung’s May 2026 security patch addresses a total of 39 vulnerabilities, covering both Android CVEs and Samsung-specific SVEs. In addition to security improvements, the update may include newer versions of system applications and behind-the-scenes optimizations designed to enhance the overall user experience.

Do not expect any new features, though. As mentioned earlier, the Galaxy S24 and S23 phones recently picked up the One UI 8.5 update, which contained tons of user-facing changes. The latest release is all about security enhancements. If you own one of these devices, you can check for the update manually by navigating to Settings > Software update > Download and install.
