Galaxy S23 Users Don’t Get One UI 8.5’s Biggest Quick Share Upgrade

Samsung’s One UI 8.5 update makes file sharing between Galaxy devices and Apple products much more seamless. Thanks to the new Quick Share integration with AirDrop, users can now transfer files across the two platforms without relying on third-party apps or complicated setup steps. Unfortunately, Samsung isn’t bringing this feature to every Galaxy model, and the Galaxy S23 series appears to be missing out too.

Galaxy S23 misses out on Samsung’s AirDrop sharing feature

The new system works as an AirDrop bridge between Android and Apple ecosystems, making cross-platform file sharing far more seamless than before. Galaxy users can send photos, videos, and documents directly to an iPhone, iPad, or Mac almost as easily as they would to another Android device. The process also works in reverse, allowing Apple users to share files back to Galaxy devices.

Samsung debuted the feature with the Galaxy S26 series and later expanded support to the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S24 lineups. The One UI 8.5 update brought the tool to older models, including foldables from the past two years. However, it looks like the company doesn’t plan to extend support beyond its 2024 flagships. The Galaxy S23 series, which arrived in early 2023, doesn’t get AirDrop file sharing with One UI 8.5.

This omission stands out because the Galaxy S23 lineup remains powerful enough to support the feature from a hardware perspective. Samsung has not officially explained the limitation, which has left many users confused. Since the feature primarily relies on software integration rather than specialized hardware, there is still a possibility that the company could enable it later through a future update.

The One UI 8.5 update still delivers plenty of changes for Galaxy S23 users. Samsung refined various interface elements, adjusted app designs for better visibility, and improved the overall responsiveness of the system. The update also introduces additional Galaxy AI features, including upgraded AI image generation tools and expanded Audio Eraser functionality for cleaner sound editing.
