Galaxy S22, S22+, S22 Ultra Pick Up May 2026 Security Update

Samsung is busy rolling out updates. It’s rolling out the One UI 8.5 stable update to more Galaxy devices and is also preparing to roll out the second One UI 9 beta update to the Galaxy S26 series. At the same time, Samsung is completing the May 2026 security update rollout.
May 2026 security update lands on the Galaxy S22 series
Samsung has now begun rolling out the May 2026 security update for the Galaxy S22 series. It’s pushing the latest security patch to the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra in its home market, South Korea. The update should reach other regions in the coming days. The build version in question is S90*NKSS9GZE5 (h/t @KAILASH61229293 on X).
As for the May 2026 security update, it includes patches for more than three dozen vulnerabilities. It also fixes a serious zero-click Android vulnerability that allows attackers to run code without any user action. Google identified the flaw, which makes this update especially important.
If you have a Galaxy S22 device in Korea, you can go ahead and install the May 2026 security update. To do so, head to Settings > Software update > Download and install. Once the update file is downloaded, tap Install now. Your phone will then reboot with the latest security patch.
As for future updates, the Galaxy S22 series will receive the One UI 8.5 update, though it may take some time. However, it will not get the next major update, One UI 9.0 based on Android 17. One UI 9.0 is expected to launch with the upcoming foldables this summer.
