Epic Games Store will come pre-installed on Telefónica-sold Galaxy phones
A new deal between telco major Telefónica and Epic Games will bring the Epic Games Store pre-installed on Android devices within its network. There’s a catch, though… it applies only to Spain, the UK, Germany, and Latin America.
If you’re outside these regions, you won’t find the Epic Games Store pre-installed on your Galaxy if you’re outside these regions. “This strategic alliance aims to provide a more competitive ecosystem for Android players, empowering them with a choice beyond the conventional app marketplaces,” Epic Games stated in a press release. “Players will now be able to more easily download Fortnite, Fall Guys, and Rocket League Sideswipe as well as third-party games in the future.”

More importantly, Epic Games has had quite a successful year. This comes nearly a year after Epic Games triumphed over Google in an antitrust case, concluding a three-year-long legal battle. On top of that, it felt like hell froze over when Apple was told to support third-party app stores in Europe. That time around, Epic Games grabbed the opportunity. What’s worth mentioning is that Epic Games recently dragged Samsung and Google to court over sideloading restrictions.
While the Epic Games Store has been available on Android for a few months, this marks the first time it will come pre-installed on Galaxy phones. So, if you’re in the UK, Spain, Germany, or Latin America and plan to purchase a Galaxy or Android phone through Telefónica, you’ll find the Epic Games Store already installed.
