Apple’s iPhone 17 Air Might Overshadow Samsung’s Super Slim Galaxy S25 Edge

We know that both Apple and Samsung are working on ultra-slim devices — the iPhone 17 Air and the Galaxy S25 Edge. While Samsung has already showcased its offering a couple of times, most recently at MWC 2025, Apple has yet to announce it. However, from the rumor mill, we already know a lot of key details about the iPhone 17 Air. Now, a fresh leak suggests that the upcoming slim iPhone might overshadow its Samsung counterpart in one key area: thickness.

Thickness comparison: iPhone 17 Air vs. Galaxy S25 Edge

Tipster Ice Universe (@UniverseIce) has recently posted some interesting details about the upcoming iPhone 17 Air. He says the iPhone 17 Air will share the same length, width, screen size, and bezel dimensions as the iPhone 16 Pro Max. That means it will be a huge phone, but super sleek too with a reported thickness of just 5.5mm. If this pans out, the iPhone 17 Air would be Apple’s slimmest iPhone yet.

More importantly, it surpasses the Galaxy S25 Edge’s rumored 5.84mm thick profile. It is worth noting that these are the body thickness we are talking about, without including the camera bump. Both phones are expected to feature pretty bulky camera bumps.

As for screen size, the iPhone 17 Air may feature a 6.9-inch screen, according to a tipster’s claim of similarities to the iPhone 16 Pro Max. On the other hand, the Galaxy S25 Edge could feature a 6.7-inch screen, similar to the Galaxy S25+.

There is no doubt that both devices will impress us with their slim profiles. However, the question lies in the compromises made to achieve that level of thinness. Thankfully, we won’t have to wait much longer to learn the full specifications, at least for the Galaxy S25 Edge, as it could debut next month. On the other hand, the iPhone 17 Air could launch in September 2025 alongside the other siblings in the iPhone 17 series.
