Every Android version comes with a hidden Easter Egg, and Android 17 is no different. But this time, Google didn’t just throw in a random new logo, as they have since Android 14. It actually made something a bit more interactive.

Android 17 brings a mini puzzle

According to a report from 9to5Google, the new Easter Egg found in Android 17 Beta 4 shows a screen filled with diamond-shaped dots or stars arranged in a circle. From there, you have to connect the dots to trigger the new logo. It’s simple, but it’s also a small twist compared to previous versions.

Once you complete the shape, the new Android 17 logo appears and moves through a space-like animation, continuing Google’s recent “cosmic” theme. After unlocking the logo, you can long-press it to launch the logo into space, like a rocket, and that’s where things get familiar. Just like in previous versions, the classic space mini-game appears, which has been around since Android 14.

If you want to try it yourself, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Open “About phone.”
  3. Tap on the Android version multiple times
  4. Enter the Easter Egg screen
  5. Connect the dots to unlock the animation

This has been the standard way Android hides Easter Eggs for years, and it still works the same way today. Google has been adding these hidden Easter Eggs since early versions of the OS, and they’ve become a small tradition over time. And honestly, this one feels a bit more engaging than just tapping on a logo.

This new Easter Egg should come with the next major update on Samsung Galaxy devices, One UI 9.0, which is expected to launch in the summer with the new foldables.
