Samsung Now Bar and “Live Activities” Finally Here with One UI 7.0 Beta

by | Dec 5, 2024 | News, One UI

The Android 15 update for the Galaxy S24 series is finally here, bringing a pack of new features and revamps. What’s being seen as Samsung’s UI take on the Dynamic Island or, say, iOS’s Live Activities, the One UI 7.0 beta brings the rumored Now Bar.

Samsung brings Now Bar with One UI 7.0 beta — and it’s awesome

The Now Bar is finally here with the One UI 7.0 beta, available on the Galaxy S24 series. It sits at the bottom of the screen between the left and right shortcuts and displays live notifications from several apps, including Music, Recording, Stopwatch, charging status, and more.

Of course, this is just the first glimpse, and we’ve yet to see many more apps supporting the Now Bar. Folks, the game has just begun. Let’s let things unfold. The Now Bar widgets feature interactive elements, such as buttons and visuals. This lets you control things like play/pause and skip in the Music notification. If you tap the top of the Music app’s Now Bar, it expands into a full widget with smooth animations. You can even switch between multiple apps in the NowBar, such as a music player and timer.

There’s one sad thing about Now Bar… it’s that you have to wait

While this feature is currently exclusive to the Galaxy S24 series, as the One UI 7.0 beta isn’t available on other devices. So more users will be able to use it with the upcoming stable release, expected sometime after the Galaxy Unpacked event. It’s surely going to be one of the major highlights of the upcoming One UI 7.0. Even better, this will work on all eligible Galaxy phones.

Meanwhile, if you’re eager to jump in as an early adopter, you can try installing the One UI 7.0 beta on your Galaxy S24, S24+, or S24 Ultra. As a piece of advice, we don’t recommend installing it unless you’re ready to test it out. So far, we haven’t experienced any major bugs in One UI 7.0 beta. But these early releases aren’t meant to replace the software on your Galaxy phone.
