Samsung Could Increase DRAM Production by 15% to Meet Apple Demand

Samsung could soon ease some pressure in the global memory market. A new report claims the company is preparing to increase its DRAM output by as much as 15% before the end of the year. This will help meet demand from major customers like Apple as memory prices continue to climb.
Samsung may ramp up DRAM production as Apple seeks more memory chips
According to SE Daily, Samsung plans to boost production at its Hwaseong campus by improving manufacturing efficiency rather than building entirely new DRAM production lines. The move comes as soaring AI demand continues to tighten memory supply and push prices sharply higher.
The report says Samsung will build a new end fab at Hwaseong Campus Complex 1. An end fab performs the final stages of wafer manufacturing before the chips are completed. Samsung currently operates its main DRAM fabs at Complex 1, while it runs its end fabs across Hwaseong Complex 2 and the Cheonan campus.
Bringing those final manufacturing steps closer to the main production lines should reduce the time spent transporting wafers between facilities. That would streamline production, improve operational efficiency, and ultimately allow Samsung to increase DRAM output by roughly 15%, according to the report.
The additional supply could be particularly important for large customers such as Apple. The iPhone maker has reportedly been pushing for relief from US restrictions that prevent it from sourcing mobile DRAM from Chinese suppliers, arguing that soaring memory prices are putting pressure on device costs.
Samsung, alongside SK Hynix and Micron, dominates the global DRAM market, giving the three companies significant influence over supply and pricing. While Samsung hasn’t confirmed its expansion plans, increasing output would help satisfy growing demand without requiring entirely new fabrication plants, potentially easing supply constraints in the months ahead.
