Samsung Chairman Lee Jae-yong is heading to Google’s exclusive Camp in Sicily, Italy. The Camp brings together some of the world’s top technology leaders every year. Lee’s participation shows the Korean firm’s efforts to bolster its position in the growing AI industry.
Samsung’s AI push continues with the Chairman’s Google Camp visit
Launched in 2013 by Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, Google Camp is an invitation-only event held annually for key figures from the technology, business, and political worlds. Unlike public conferences, the company does not reveal the attendee list, event schedule, or discussion topics.
According to a report from Chosun, this year’s event will take place at the Rocco Forte Verdura Golf Resort in southwestern Sicily at the end of this month. Samsung Chairman Lee Jae-yong may attend alongside SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won. The two South Korean business executives have traveled to Sicily to attend Google Camp.
Lee has reportedly attended Google Camp every year since 2022, while Chey first attended in 2024. It is worth mentioning that both executives missed last year’s event due to their visit to the US for tariff negotiations.
While the agenda remains secret, AI may be a key topic of discussion. These could include AI semiconductors, AI infrastructure, data centers, and High Bandwidth Memory (HBM). As such, Samsung may be able to deepen ties with major technology giants.
A few days ago, Lee attended the AI Summit in San Francisco. During the event, the executive reportedly met with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, and Broadcom CEO Hock Tan. Samsung and Broadcom also announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to expand their collaboration on memory and foundry technologies. The partnership may push more than $200 billion in business through 2030.
We’ll let you know if any major discussions emerge from Google Camp.
