Samsung’s next-gen foldables are moving closer to market introduction, and a new report sheds light on the camera specs for the entire lineup. While most of the camera hardware remains familiar, the report points to a few notable upgrades, particularly for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. Samsung also appears to have expanded its camera component suppliers.

Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra gets a new ultrawide camera but keeps its 200MP main shooter

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is Samsung’s top-tier foldable this year, succeeding the Fold 7. According to the new report, the device will feature a 50MP ultrawide lens, replacing the 12MP unit on last year’s model. While unconfirmed, it could be the same camera found on the Galaxy S26 Ultra. A higher-resolution sensor could capture more detail while also improving image consistency between the main and secondary cameras.

On the flip side, Samsung is reportedly sticking with the 200MP ISOCELL HP2 sensor for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra’s primary camera. The same sensor has powered recent Ultra flagships, and the company seemingly doesn’t see a need to upgrade it yet. The 10x telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom may also remain unchanged.

As far as the Galaxy Z Flip 8 is concerned, it may not receive any major camera hardware changes. Samsung will reportedly retain a 50MP primary camera alongside a 12MP ultrawide sensor, matching its predecessor on paper. However, image quality could still improve through software processing, ISP enhancements, or sensor optimization.

The report also sheds light on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 (Wide), which is expected to feature a 50MP main camera paired with a 50MP ultrawide camera. Both the cover display and the internal display are reportedly accompanied by 10MP front-facing cameras.

Meanwhile, Samsung is reportedly refreshing its camera supply chain. Companies including Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Power Logics, Sunny Optical, and affiliates of Coasia are said to be supplying camera modules for the upcoming foldables.
