The green or pink display line issue on Samsung’s Galaxy S23 lineup is a familiar concern. Now, it looks like the problem may have resurfaced for several 2023 flagship owners after updating to the One UI 8.5 update. If the affected device is out of warranty, the cost of a display replacement can be expensive.

Some Galaxy S23 owners are seeing green or pink display lines after the One UI 8.5 update

Last month, Samsung’s latest One UI 8.5 update hit the Galaxy S23 series globally. After a few days, the company pushed the May 2026 security patch. This brought fresh software experience and improved protection against the newly discovered security vulnerabilities.

However, several Galaxy S23 users have recently reported that the latest software update has triggered the green or pink vertical display lines. They claim their devices had no history of drops, physical damage, or water exposure. One Galaxy S23 Ultra owner said a green line showed up immediately after updating the device. Other Ultra users complained about seeing a pink vertical line.

It looks like the latest software update is causing conflicts with display drivers, leading to hardware damage. Note that not everyone has experienced the issue. In fact, a user says the update makes the device more responsive than before.

Samsung usually offers a one-time free display-replacement program for eligible S23 devices with the green line issue. The offer reportedly applies to devices purchased within three years of the invoice date and only if the phone shows no signs of physical damage.

If your phone is out of warranty, you may need to pay a steep price for the display replacement. Reports suggest Samsung service centers have quoted around INR 19,500. That said, the company even approved partial discounts (82%) for affected customers.

If you are also suffering from a green or pink display line issue, visit a Samsung service center. The future software patch will unlikely fix the problem.
