Samsung today released the June 2026 update for the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7, and TriFold. And as expected, it’s not a routine security patch. Alongside the latest security fixes, this update brings a few new features too. Samsung is basically rolling out some AI tools it omitted from the original One UI 8.5 release for these devices.

Galaxy S25 and Fold 7 get Notification Highlights and File Summaries

One of the biggest additions is Notification Highlights, a Galaxy AI-powered feature that debuted on the Galaxy S26 series. It includes two tools: Prioritize Notifications and Summarize Notifications. The feature uses Galaxy AI to surface the most important alerts and generate summaries of incoming notifications, helping users quickly catch up on information without opening every app individually.

Samsung has also brought File Summaries to the Galaxy S25 lineup. Integrated into the My Files app, this AI feature can generate concise summaries of supported content, including PDF documents, text files, and voice recordings. It helps users quickly understand lengthy documents or recordings without having to review the entire file manually.

Unfortunately, despite these additions, several expected features are still missing. One UI 8.5 features like Now Nudge, 24MP camera shooting mode, and Horizontal Lock aren’t yet available on the Galaxy S25 series or Fold 7. Perhaps Samsung doesn’t plan to roll out these features to older models (or maybe there are hardware limitations).

That said, the fingerprint accuracy enhancement tool, which rolled out to the Galaxy S25 FE last month, is still not part of the June update for the main S25 flagships. This feature also exists on the Galaxy Z Fold 7.

What makes this inconsistency in feature availability particularly frustrating is the fact that Samsung spent roughly five months testing One UI 8.5 on the Galaxy S25 series before its public release. While the June update is a step in the right direction, it doesn’t completely close the One UI 8.5 feature gap between Samsung’s 2025 and 2026 flagship smartphones. We will let you know when we have more information.
