Google continues to improve Gemini, its AI chatbot that helps users with day-to-day questions, tasks, and problem-solving. The company appears to be testing a Troubleshooting mode that could make the assistant more helpful for diagnosing issues. As of now, some users have reported seeing this option in the model picker menu.

Troubleshooting mode could simplify problem-solving in Gemini

Gemini already helps you with different troubleshooting tasks, though the AI delivers answers in a general chat format. It looks like the assistant now aims to fulfill the user’s troubleshooting queries in a shorter and more interactive way with the Troubleshooting mode. As spotted by @testingcatalog, the option shows up alongside other models such as 3.5 Flash and 3.1 Pro in the model picker menu.

The Troubleshooting serves as a dedicated mode within the Gemini interface for problem-solving. If you use this mode, you will see responses through text and interactive widgets. For example, if a user says, “My car doesn’t start,” Gemini may first acknowledge the issue and then suggest common causes, such as a dead battery.

It may also ask for more details to give a more accurate solution. Below the response, the mode could show interactive buttons such as “Clicks or silent” to make the process easier. Instead of typing, you can tap the option that fits your situation. As a result, Gemini may be able to quickly narrow down the problem.

Some say the mode may use a lower temperature setting to deliver less conversational fluff. “Its training is composed of and weighted more towards diagnosis and troubleshooting, general coding, techie stuff,” said a Redditor. It seems that Google has been testing this feature with a small group of users. However, it is unclear whether the company plans to release it for everyone. More details should surface in the coming weeks.
