Samsung has begun rolling out the One UI 9 Beta update, which is based on Android 17. As expected, the Galaxy S26 series is the first to get a beta program, though other models should join a few weeks later. If you are interested in trying out the big update before the stable release, here’s how to install it.

One UI 9 Beta gates are now open — here’s how to enter

At the moment, Samsung’s One UI 9 beta program is only available for the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra. While the company will definitely launch beta access for more models, the bigger limitation remains regional availability. You can officially join the beta only if you live in one of these six countries: South Korea, Germany, the UK, the US, Poland, and India.

Moreover, the initial launch is restricted to the first four markets. India and Poland get One UI 9 Beta in the second wave, which begins on May 26. So, in short, you can currently enrol in the beta program if you are using a Galaxy S26, S26+, or S26 Ultra in South Korea, Germany, the UK, or the US. Simply follow the steps below:

  • Open the Samsung Members app
  • Look for the Beta Program banner
  • Tap the banner and follow the on-screen instructions to register

Once you have enrolled in the beta program, you should get an update that bumps your Galaxy S26 to One UI 9. Head to Settings > Software update > Download and install to upgrade. As with any update, make sure your phone has enough battery charge and is connected to a stable internet connection.

You should avoid installing beta software on your primary device, unless you know what you are doing. Pre-release builds often include bugs and stability issues that can affect day-to-day use, and there is always a risk of data loss. If you do proceed, back up your data beforehand and be prepared for occasional glitches. The stable One UI 9 update may arrive around September.
