Galaxy Watch 4 gets Energy Score, Preps for One UI 6 Watch

by | Aug 20, 2024 | Galaxy Watch, News, Updates

Last month, Samsung launched the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra with Wear OS 5-based One UI 6 Watch. The company is currently testing this update for older watches, from the Watch 6 to the Watch 4, as well as the Watch FE. It has already rolled out multiple beta builds to registered users. While there’s still no timeline for a public rollout, a recent watch face update suggests it’s right around the corner.

Samsung nears One UI 6 Watch rollout for older models

We recently received an update for the Info Board watch face on our Galaxy Watch 4. Upon updating, we noticed several new complications with unfinished names. We were intrigued by those and decided to check them out. To our surprise, one of the new complications was for Energy Score, a feature exclusive to One UI 6 Watch. More importantly, the Galaxy Watch 4 in question isn’t registered to the beta program.

This suggests Samsung is nearing the public rollout of the big new update for eligible older models. Since we have just updated the watch, we can’t tell if the new feature works on our Galaxy Watch 4 running One UI  Watch. Energy Score quantifies your physical and mental readiness based on your activity, sleep, and heart rate. It’s a metric of how well you recovered over the night and how ready you are for the next day’s chores.

The watch face complication works fine, with the Show on phone button opening up the Energy Score datasheet on the Samsung Health app on the connected smartphone. However, we couldn’t manually locate the same datasheet on the app. This suggests it’s a work in progress. We will keep track of the new feature and let you know if it works. Stay tuned for the official One UI 6 Watch update for older Galaxy Watches.
