After an initial release covering carrier-locked units, Samsung’s April update is now rolling out to unlocked Galaxy S25 units in the US. The update is also available for all three models in Canada. It brings One UI 7 enhancements and the latest security fixes.

Galaxy S25 users in the US and Canada get April update with One UI 7 enhancements

Samsung’s April update for the Galaxy S25 series is a big one. It introduces some missing One UI 7 features and enhancements already available on older models like the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy Z Fold 6 running the stable One UI 7 build. The changes include new charging animations, updated battery icon, improved Now Bar with media player integration in live notifications, and more.

The Korean firm started rolling out this update to the Galaxy S25 trio last week, with users in its home country getting it first. The rollout expanded to India, Australia, the US, and other markets earlier this week. However, Samsung initially only covered carrier-locked units stateside. Thankfully, users with an unlocked unit didn’t have to wait very long (thanks, Justin).

Additionally, Samsung has released the April update for the Galaxy S25 lineup in Canada as well. Users are getting the same build version (AYD9) across the two countries. The OTA package weighs around 700MB, though it varies depending on the model and region. It shouldn’t be long before the update hits all eligible Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra units in the US and Canada.

Alongside the aforementioned One UI 7 enhancements, this update contains the latest security fixes from Samsung, Google, and other partner vendors. The April Security Maintenance Release (SMR) for the Galaxy family addresses over 60 vulnerabilities, some of which are critical security flaws. You should install this update as ear;y as you can to stay safe from these vulnerabilities.
