A new report from South Korea backs up previous claims about the upcoming Galaxy tri-fold. According to The Elec, which cited major parts suppliers and other sources, Samsung plans to produce around 200,000 units for its release later this year. For what itโ€™s worth, another Korean outlet, Sisajournal, has confirmed that Samsung may manufacture fewer than 300,000 units of the Galaxy tri-fold in total.

Galaxy tri-fold will be coming in 2025, and a new report corroborates modest production numbers

Sisajournalโ€™s report aligns with The Elecโ€™s findings on the Galaxy tri-fold production numbers. The former suggests that Samsung could produce fewer than 300,000 units, while The Elec estimates around 200,000 units. If thereโ€™s one takeaway from these reports, itโ€™s that Samsung is opting for a modest production run for the Galaxy tri-fold. You might be wondering, Whatโ€™s the big deal with 200,000 units? Well, let me paint the picture for you.

Flex G Samsung Display CES 2022

According to the report, Samsung is placing a bigger bet on the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, even though both are expected to bring a few major upgrades. The more significant enhancements may be saved for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Flip 8 series. That said, despite scaling back foldable shipments after a rough year, Samsung still plans to ship around 3 million units of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and over 2 million units of the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Additionally, the company could ship more than 900,000 units of the Galaxy Z Flip FE.

The report also suggests that the upcoming Galaxy tri-fold could be similar to Samsung Displayโ€˜s Flex G. When unfolded, it may feature a 10-inch display, just slightly smaller than the 10.2-inch screen on the Huawei Mate XT. However, given the latter isnโ€™t internationally available, guess whoโ€™s going to have an edge? Of course, time will tell better.
