Your Guide to One UI 6.1.1: New Features and Supported Devices

After an unanticipated delay, Samsung’s One UI 6.1.1 update is finally available for supported Galaxy devices. The update brings new AI features, camera enhancements, and more changes from the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6. If you are wondering whether your Galaxy phone or tablet will receive One UI 6.1.1, or what new features will make it to your device, you have come to the right place. Here’s everything you need to know about this update.

These Galaxy devices will receive the One UI 6.1.1 update

Introduced with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6, One UI 6.1.1 is based on Android 14. Samsung will roll out this update to most flagship models launched in 2021 and later, including foldables and tablets. Some recent mid-range models may also get it. The update bears software version One UI 6.1 for non-folding phones but contains all compatible features. We expect the following Galaxy phones and tablets to receive One UI 6.1.1.

This isn’t the official list — Samsung hasn’t published any such list. But based on the Korean firm’s update policy, we currently expect these devices to receive the One UI 6.1.1 update. The most advanced AI features and camera tools will be limited to the most premium models, though. We have listed all new features and enhancements below, along with supported models for some.

One UI 6.1.1 new features

One UI 6.1.1 is a pretty huge update. Along with a wide range of Galaxy AI tools, Samsung introduced several other features that enhance your Galaxy experience. The update also brings new camera features and improvements. You can find everything about One UI 6.1.1 below.

Galaxy AI features

  • Sketch to Image: This tool converts rough sketches into a beautiful work of art. You can start from scratch to create a photo of your imagination or draw something over your photo. It is available in available in Samsung Notes, Photo Editor, Air Command, Smart Select, and Edge Panel. Supported models: Galaxy Z Fold 6, Fold 5, Fold 4, Flip 6, Flip 5, Flip 4, Galaxy S24, Galaxy S23, Galaxy S22, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Tab S9, and Galaxy Tab S8 series.
  • Overlay Translation: Your phone overlays the translated text on the original image, preserving the background color for a neat view. Supported models: Galaxy Z Fold 6, Fold 5, Fold 4, Flip 6, Flip 5, Flip 4, Galaxy S24, Galaxy S23, Galaxy S22, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Tab S9, and Galaxy Tab S8 series.
  • Portrait Studio: You can save your photos by selecting from various AI-generated portrait styles. Supported models: Galaxy Z Fold 6, Fold 5, Fold 4, Flip 6, Flip 5, Flip 4, Galaxy S24, Galaxy S23, Galaxy S22, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Tab S9, and Galaxy Tab S8 series.
  • Live Effect: You can bring photos to life with 3D live effects. It works in photos containing people and animals. Supported models: Galaxy Z Fold 6, Fold 5, Fold 4, Flip 6, Flip 5, Flip 4, Galaxy S24, Galaxy S23, Galaxy S22, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Tab S9, and Galaxy Tab S8 series.
  • Weather Effects on Wallpaper: Your wallpaper automatically adjusts to the time of day and weather conditions in your location.
  • Circle to Search: Use Circle to Search to identify music and find step-by-step solutions for math problems.

AI-powered productivity features

  • AI Writing Assistant: Samsung Keyboard can help you write letters, articles, or paragraphs from keywords, text snippets, or short sentences.
  • Live Translate: Live Translate now supports AI translation of live calls on third-party apps such as Google Meet, Kakao Talk, and WhatsApp.
  • Image Text Translation: When translating web pages, Samsung Internet can translate text contained in images.
  • Listening Mode for Interpreter: The AI Interpreter gets a new Listening Mode that supports one-way translation. It can be helpful when translating a lecture or presentation into your preferred language.
  • Voice Recording to Notes: You can now create notes on Samsung Notes via voice dictation. Your phone transcribes voice recordings into editable text notes.
  • PDF Translation: Note Assist can now translate and summarize PDF files without converting them to notes. Translated text appears in the original format.
  • Auto Language Detection: Transcript Assist can automatically detect the source language when converting voice recordings into text.
  • Suggested Replies: Access quick replies for your incoming messages on your supported Galaxy Watch.

Other productivity features

  • Smart Select: Smart Select offers suggested actions based on what you selected. You get quick actions to call phone numbers, find directions to addresses, edit images, and more.
  • Enhanced Multi-Window: Switching between picture-in-picture and split screen is now super easy! Just touch and hold the video, then drag it to the side of the screen.
  • Easy Copy/Move of Files: Finding the right folder in My Files is simpler than ever! Choose the destination in a pop-up window and easily return to the original folder when done.
  • File Shortcuts: Quickly access your most-used files with homescreen shortcuts. Just touch and hold a file in My Files, navigate to the Home screen with your other hand, and drop it to create a shortcut.
  • Image/Video Thumbnail: Thumbnails for pictures and videos in My Files now show in their original aspect ratio for accurate preview.
  • Highlight your Schedule: Easily mark important dates on your calendar with the S Pen. You can use the straight-line highlighter with your S Pen in month view. You can also erase highlights without affecting other pen marks.
  • Automate your Watch: You can automate various tasks on your watch with modes and routines on your phone. This allows you to control more of your watch settings based on what you are doing or where you are.
  • Message Filters: You gain more control over routines triggered by messages or notifications with custom filters. You can add multiple keywords and choose to start the routine when either all or any of the keywords are included.

Camera and Gallery features

  • Auto Zoom for Flex Camera: Flex Camera on Flip series foldables enables easy selfies using the rear cameras and the cover screen. You can pop the phone down on any flat surface to take high-quality selfies. Samsung has added an Auto Zoom feature to Flex Cam, making it a more seamless experience. It recognizes people/pets and automatically adjusts the zoom magnification through AI to shoot at the optimal zoom magnification. Supported models: Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Flip 5.
  • Flex Camcorder: Flex Camera also lets you shoot videos like a camcorder. You open the foldable at 90 degrees and hold it like a camcorder. The upper part of the screen is your viewfinder while the lower part houses all the controls. Supported models: Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Flip 5.
  • Instant Slowmo: Instant slow-mo is now compatible with HDR10+ videos when viewing in the Gallery app. You can save the section watched in slow motion or share it with others without saving it. Supported models: Galaxy Z Fold 6, Fold 5, Flip 6, Flip 5, Galaxy S24, Galaxy S23, and Galaxy Tab S9 series.
  • Motion Clipper: You can create moving stickers and GIFs by long-pressing on a person or object in motion photos. Supported models: Galaxy Z Fold 6, Fold 5, Fold 4, Flip 6, Flip 5, Flip 4, Galaxy S24, Galaxy S23, Galaxy S22, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Tab S9, and Galaxy Tab S8 series.

Expert RAW features

  • Astro Portrait: The Astro Portrait feature lets you take photos of people and stars together. Supported models: Galaxy Z Fold 6, Flip 6, Galaxy S24, and Galaxy S23 series.
  • RAW Editor: DNG editing is supported in the Galaxy Photo Editor, offering additional editing tools for richer experiences. Supported models: Galaxy Z Fold 6, Fold 5, Fold 4, Flip 6, Flip 5, Flip 4, Galaxy S24, Galaxy S23, Galaxy S22, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Tab S9, and Galaxy Tab S8 series.

Samsung Health features

  • Wellness Tips: Enhanced wellness tips offer more valuable health insights that encourage and motivate you to you achieve your health goals.
  • Detailed Sleep Analysis: Your updated sleep report now includes heart rate, respiratory rate, and how long it takes you to fall asleep for a more accurate analysis.
  • Energy Score: Samsung Health’s new energy score reflects your physical and mental condition based on sleep and activity, so you get a better idea of your readiness for the day’s chores.
  • Share Health Insights: Share healthy habits with loved ones by granting access to your Samsung Health data, including steps, exercise, and sleep records. You’re always in control and can revoke access anytime.
  • Custom Workout Routines: Create a custom workout by combining different exercises and setting targets for sets, reps, or time. Your watch auto-switches exercises as you hit your targets, and you can add breaks if needed. View all your results in one place when you’re done!
  • Cycling Power Meters: Enhance your cycling workouts with Samsung Health’s new support for power meters. Track your functional threshold power (FTP) for deeper insights into your training.

Other miscellaneous One UI 6.1.1 features

  • Profile Card: Customize your profile card with your name and picture, visible to other Galaxy users during calls or when they view your contact info. You can also create profile cards for your contacts, so you see their details when they call you.
  • Improved Video Seeking: Save time with new video seek controls in the Video Player app! Double-tap the right side to skip forward 5 seconds and the left side to rewind 5 seconds.
  • Tap to Answer Calls: Set your phone to answer calls with a simple button tap instead of swiping on the screen.
  • Answer all Calls on the Speaker: Prefer speakerphone for calls? Set your phone to answer all calls on speaker by default, so you don’t have to switch manually each time.
  • More Weather Updates: Stay ahead of weather changes with hourly updates. Your weather information now refreshes automatically at least once every hour for the latest forecasts.
  • Auto Blocker: Enable Auto Blocker for enhanced security. It blocks hyperlinks and automatic downloads in messages, removes location data from shared pictures, and restricts shared albums in Gallery.
  • Quick Panel: You can now open the quick panel with just one tap.
