Why Did Samsung Pull the One UI 7 Update Globally?

by | Apr 14, 2025 | News, One UI

Samsung’s long-awaited One UI 7 update was supposed to be the next big step for Galaxy users. After months of development, internal testing, and anticipation, the update finally started rolling out earlier this month. But just as the global expansion was about to kick off, the company abruptly pulled the update from its servers worldwide, leaving users wondering: What went wrong? Well, Samsung messed up again!

Samsung pushed a buggy One UI 7 update after months of preparation

Despite taking several months to prepare One UI 7, Samsung seems to have shipped a version riddled with critical bugs. The update first landed on the Galaxy S24 series in South Korea on April 7 before expanding to Europe, the US, and Canada. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 also received the update in these regions. The rollout was set to go global starting today, April 14.

But shortly after the initial push, Samsung pulled the update from its servers for all devices in all regions, including those where the rollout hasn’t begun, like India and China. There are multiple theories as to what forced the Korean firm to abruptly halt the One UI 7 rollout. Some say the update contained a serious bug that locked users out of their phones. Some users allegedly couldn’t unlock their devices after installing One UI 7.

Others claim issues with battery life and app compatibility. Details are scarce, but One UI 7 may have caused excessive battery drain and issues with apps. In fact, early rumors suggested it’s a hardware problem related to the Exynos 2400 processor that powers the Galaxy S24 and S24+ in some regions. However, Samsung has also stopped the One UI 7 rollout for Snapdragon-powered Galaxy devices.

We might be in for another substantial delay, or maybe not

Samsung didn’t just stop the update. In several regions, the company also deleted the official One UI 7 rollout roadmaps, which had outlined expected timelines for dozens of Galaxy devices. The removal of these posts just days after publishing strongly suggests the company had to reassess its entire update schedule. Or maybe it deleted the posts because it missed the April 14 release in those markets, and that it won’t be a huge delay.

As of now, Samsung has yet to release an official explanation or revised timeline. While some sources suggest the rollout could resume later this week, the company hasn’t confirmed a specific date. Given how long it took for One UI 7 to arrive, this sudden pause is disappointing. It also raises questions about how such critical bugs slipped through despite months of development and internal testing. Hopefully, when One UI 7 does return, it will be the stable, polished update that Galaxy owners have been waiting for.
