WhatsApp is ringing in the new year with a host of exciting updates that make the app more fun and engaging. The Meta-owned messaging platform announced four new features rolling out to users worldwide. This follows a major update with improved calling last month.

The first of the four new enhancements coming to WhatsApp is camera effects for photos and videos. When you take a picture or record a video, you can apply one of 30 different backgrounds, filters, and effects to it to add a personal touch or even a bit of fun before sending it to others. This feature builds on the video call effects rolled out last year.
WhatsApp has also introduced selfie stickers. Now, instead of just using pre-made stickers, you can create your own from a selfie. Simply tap on the “Create” option on the sticker menu, take a selfie, and voila — your custom sticker is ready to share. You can even share a sticker pack with your friends directly in chats.
Last but not least, WhatsApp is making it easier to react to messages. You can double-tap a message to instantly add a reaction. This simple yet effective update lets you express yourself faster and more fluidly within conversations. In addition, the feature allows you to scroll through your most-used reactions, making it even easier to respond without breaking the flow of your chat.
These features are now rolling out to WhatsApp users globally, elevating the messaging experience for everyone. Android users can download the app’s latest version from the Google Play Store.
