Not long ago, ULTRALOQ added built-in support for Apple Home Key to the Bolt NFC, allowing you to unlock your door easily using your iPhone or Apple Watch. It was a step in the right direction, but as you might expect, Android support was missing. That didn’t sit well, especially since many people rely on Android as their main or only phone. Thankfully, that is finally changing with a new update, the company said in a press release.

ULTRALOQ says its Bolt NFC lock now works with almost all Android phones

ULTRALOQ’s Bolt NFC Smart Lock is now getting a helpful update for Android users. With the latest version of the U Home app, you can unlock your door by tapping your phone, even if the screen is off or locked. If you have used Apple’s Home Key before, you already know how convenient this is. Now Android users can enjoy the same ease of use. According to ULTRALOQ, the update works with more than 99% of Android phones that support NFC.

Most smart locks with NFC unlocking either only work with iPhones or require extra hardware for Android users. This update does not change how locks work, but it removes a common problem that has frustrated many people. It is a small change, but it makes the lock more user-friendly.

The Bolt NFC still supports other ways to unlock your door. You can use NFC or RFID cards, tags, or key fobs if that is what you prefer. The goal is not to replace everything at once, but to offer more options.

The lock is priced at $179.99 on Amazon and ULTRALOQ’s website. It is not the cheapest option. But if you’ve been waiting because of compatibility issues, this update could be a good reason to take another look.
