Are you unable to see your Google Cast (Chromecast) speaker in Spotify’s Connect menu on your Android phone? Well, you are not alone. Several users are going through the same situation, leaving them unable to stream music to their wireless speakers as usual. Spotify has now acknowledged this problem, though a fix timeline remains unclear.

A bug appears to be causing Spotify Connect to hide Google Cast devices

For the uninitiated, Spotify Connect lets you control music playback on other devices, such as smart speakers, from your phone. It works on the same Wi-Fi network, streaming music from the cloud to the device. You only need your phone to select the speaker at the beginning.

However, over the past few days, Android users have been complaining that their available Cast devices are not appearing in the Connect menu. This means that even if the speakers are connected to Wi-Fi and working normally, they cannot be selected inside the Spotify app.

That said, Spotify users on iOS and desktop platforms can still see and connect to their devices. This suggests that the bug is linked to the Android version of the Spotify app. The company has recently confirmed the bug, which is currently under investigation.

“We’ve been made aware of reports from Android users indicating that Spotify Connect experiences issues showing available Google Cast /Chromecast speaker devices,” said a moderator on the Spotify Community forums. “This is being looked into.”

However, the moderator did not share when Spotify will roll out a fix for the issue. Hopefully, the next app update will include a patch. Meanwhile, some users said that rolling back to older versions of the app helps them get rid of the bug. In particular, version 9.1.40.1486 is said to restore Cast device visibility.
