Samsung Fixes Voice Recorder Crash Bug on One UI 8.5

Samsung Voice Recorder is a pretty helpful app for capturing lectures and meetings. It also comes with a bunch of Galaxy AI features that are useful in everyday life, including summarization, but things don’t always go as planned. It recently ran into trouble for some users, causing unexpected crashes.
Voice Recorder crash bug fixed, and you’ll need to update the app
The issue affects Galaxy devices running One UI 8.5. A bug in the Voice Recorder app caused it to crash when users tried to summarize recordings that have already been converted into text using Galaxy AI. The problem shows up when “Process data only on device” is turned on.
This setting improves privacy by keeping all processing on the phone instead of sending data to the cloud. In this case, though, it caused the app to close unexpectedly during summarization. That made the feature unreliable for people who rely on it for notes and productivity tasks.
Samsung has acknowledged the problem through its community forums and acted quickly (via Mojo Trick). The company has released an update that fixes the bug and improves overall app stability. It’s a straightforward fix, and users won’t need to change any settings once it’s updated.
If you’ve been affected, update the Voice Recorder app to version 21.5.86.26. Samsung says this version resolves the crash and lets the summarization feature work properly again, whether processing is done on-device or in the cloud.
To install the update, open the Galaxy Store > search for the Voice Recorder app > Update. Once it’s installed, the app should work as expected again, letting you record, transcribe, and summarize without interruptions.
