Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra introduced several hardware upgrades this year, including the new Privacy Display feature. This feature is designed to block screen visibility from side angles. However, not everyone seems comfortable with the new panel.

Users report that the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s display “strains the eyes”

A few early users have started reporting eye strain and discomfort while using the phone’s display. One of the latest reports comes from the Samsung Community forum. There, a user claims the screen on the Galaxy S26 Ultra causes noticeable eye fatigue during normal use.

In a recent thread from the community website, a user described their experience with the new flagship display. According to the post, the Galaxy S26 Ultra screen “strains the eyes far too much.” The user also says it feels unusually uncomfortable during extended use.

Shortly after the post gained attention, a Samsung Community moderator stepped in to respond to the complaint. The moderator acknowledged the issue and asked affected users to send a Private Message directly so the moderator could investigate the reports individually.

Hey y’all!

I’m sorry to hear that y’all are experiencing this with the brand new S26 Ultra and I completely understand the frustrations. I would like to gather some information, so we can look at this on a case by case basis. Please send a Private Message to myself or to any other moderators with the following information: Full Name, Physical Address, Email Address, Phone Number, Alt Phone Number (If Available), Place of Purchase, Full Model Code, IMEI/Serial Number, Bill Of Sale (If Available).

The report suggests the issue may relate to changes in the display technology used in the new model. Samsung introduced the Privacy Display on the S26 Ultra, which narrows the viewing angles so people around you can’t easily see what’s on your screen. While the feature improves privacy in public places, it also alters how light leaves the display panel.

Reports of discomfort are appearing on multiple social media and tech forums

This isn’t the only place where users mention discomfort with the S26 Ultra display. Some owners on Reddit have reported similar experiences. In particular, users mention eye strain, headaches, or fatigue after using the device for more than 10-15 minutes.

However, it is worth mentioning that this issue does not affect everyone. Many users say the screen looks perfectly fine and haven’t noticed any problems. That makes it difficult to determine whether the complaints come from a hardware characteristic. It is also unclear whether individual sensitivity or specific display settings play a role.

Some analysts believe that the new Privacy Display technology could alter brightness perception or viewing comfort for certain users. Even when the privacy mode is off, the physical panel structure remains the same. That means the display may behave slightly differently from previous Galaxy S Ultra models.

Still, the discussion highlights how new display technologies sometimes come with unexpected side effects. Especially for users who are sensitive to brightness patterns, flicker, or viewing angles, these effects can be problematic. For now, Galaxy S26 Ultra remains one of Samsung’s most advanced flagships.
