Skip the Galaxy S25 and Buy S25+ or S25 Ultra: Here’s Why

by | Jan 26, 2025 | Buying Guides, Comparison, Galaxy S

The Galaxy S25 trio is finally here and available for pre-orders. Now you might wonder which one should make it to your final cart — should it be the compact Galaxy S25, the taller Galaxy S25+, or the flagship Galaxy S25 Ultra? Are the Galaxy S25 and S25+ the same, except that the latter has a taller screen? What’s the compromise with the standard Galaxy S25? I’ll hopefully have answers to each of these questions, so hold on.

Pre-order Galaxy S25 Ultra through our Mystery Box program for a free case, desktop stand, cleaning kit, charging adapter kit, and more on top of Samsung’s pre-order benefits.

The Galaxy S25 and S25+ might seem identical from the outside, except for the screen size. Both phones feature a Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset, 12GB of RAM, Qi2 charging support, and the same set of cameras. Android Central hopefully explains the differences better, and I’ll provide pointers so you can understand more easily.

But they do have differences… speaking of which, I’ll explain them here so you can make an informed decision. And I’m not going to say you should totally skip the Galaxy S25, but if you’re getting more perks by spending a few more dollars, why settle for less? Let’s dive in.

Galaxy S25 Plus

1. Galaxy S25+ has better display

I’m not talking about the screen sizes here, as we very well know that the Galaxy S25 comes with a 6.2-inch screen and the Galaxy S25+ comes with a 6.7-inch screen. However, the Galaxy S25+ supports Quad HD+ resolution, compared to the Galaxy S25’s Full HD+ resolution. This is essentially a big difference, and you’ll feel it when consuming media or playing games. Moreover, the Galaxy S25+ also features Samsung’s “ProScaler for Quad HD+” technology, which utilizes advanced AI image processing to deliver a claimed 40% boost in image quality.

2. Galaxy S25+ base storage starts at 256GB and has UWB support

The pre-order deals always make it easy to increase the storage, which is what’s happening with the Galaxy S25 series pre-orders. However, the Galaxy S25+ starts with 256GB of base storage, while the Galaxy S25 starts with 128GB of base storage. So it’s worth checking out the Galaxy S25+ for its generous 256GB base storage, which you can upgrade to 512GB.

Moreover, the Galaxy S25+ comes with an ultra-wideband (UWB) chip, while the other doesn’t. UWB is a short-range tech that helps with quick data transfer and finding things easily. For example, it’s great for tracking a lost keychain with a smart tag or locating your phone in a crowded room.

3. Galaxy S25+ gets faster wired charging and more battery capacity

Usually, bigger phones have always had bigger batteries. That’s the case with the Galaxy S25+ as well, which packs in a 4,900mAh battery, compared to the Galaxy S25’s 4,000mAh battery. In short, the Galaxy S25+’s battery is closer to the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s 5,000mAh battery. In addition, the Galaxy S25+ supports 45W wired charging, which is far superior to the Galaxy S25’s 25W wired charging.

What can you do if you’ve already pre-ordered the Galaxy S25? Well, these are a few reasons why you should skip the Galaxy S25 and get the S25+ or S25 Ultra instead. But if these things don’t matter to you, you can stick with the compact Galaxy S25 for your everyday usage. Whose device is it going to be, anyway? Yours. Who should make these decisions? You!
