Samsung Wallet Gets a New Travel Card, But Not Everyone Can Try It

Samsung Wallet is getting a new travel-focused debit card in South Korea. As announced, Samsung has partnered with Hana Card to launch the Samsung Wallet Hana Travelogue Check Card, giving Galaxy users extra perks when paying abroad with Samsung Wallet.

Samsung launches a new Samsung Wallet travel card with Hana Card

The card is essentially a Samsung Wallet version of Hana Card’s existing Travelogue Check Card. It offers a 100% preferential exchange rate on supported currencies, waives overseas payment and ATM withdrawal fees, and rewards users with Samsung Wallet Points for eligible in-store purchases made overseas.

Samsung says users will earn Samsung Wallet Points worth 10% of their overseas Samsung Wallet payments. Those points can later be spent at participating online and offline merchants through Samsung Wallet. The company also revealed that more than 2.5 million people now use the Samsung Wallet Points service.

The new card doesn’t charge an annual fee and can be applied for directly through the Samsung Wallet app. Once approved, it can be added to Samsung Wallet immediately through an in-app registration prompt.

Samsung sweetens the deal with a pair of launch promos

From August 1 through December 31, the Samsung Wallet Points earning limit will double from 10,000 to 20,000 points. Another promotion running through November 30 gives users who spend at least 200,000 won overseas a chance to win prizes including a Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Watch 9, Galaxy Buds 4, airline tickets, and custom keycaps.

The new card is currently limited to South Korea, which means most of you will never get to use the card. Even so, it shows Samsung is continuing to expand Wallet beyond simple tap-to-pay features.
