Samsung’s One UI 7.0 update replaces AR Emoji with Galaxy Avatar. The new app brings major functional enhancements for a more enjoyable augmented reality experience. However, as part of this overhaul, the company removed the Deco Pic, AR Doodle, and Quick Measure features from the main experience. These now come as standalone apps. Samsung recently rolled out a new update for Quick Measure.
Quick Measure updated with feature enhancements for One UI 7.0 users
Quick Measure is an AR app for taking real-time measurements of objects. It uses AR intelligence and a 3D depth camera for instant measurement of length and depth. Samsung has updated the app with some visual and feature enhancements on One UI 7.0. First spotted by X user @GerwinvGiessen, the update introduces version 3.0.00.8 of the app.
The new version has a simpler icon that reflects its use of the phone’s camera to measure objects and distances. It features a grey-blue color scheme with a camera lens and a ruler grid. The updated Quick Measure app doesn’t bring new functions but Samsung might consider adding more later. This is the first update for the app in One UI 7.0.
Samsung has so far rolled out two One UI 7.0 beta builds for the Galaxy S24 series. It may release a few more before pushing the stable version. The company has already announced that the stable update will arrive following the Galaxy S25 launch. Rumors suggest the new flagships will go official on January 22, 2025, so expect a wide One UI 7.0 rollout starting in February.
Unfortunately, users of other Galaxy devices might have to wait until the official rollout to get the taste of One UI 7.0. Samsung allegedly doesn’t plan to release beta updates for other smartphones, not even the Galaxy S23 series. We are still awaiting confirmation on whether foldables will get beta updates.
