Samsung announced big upgrades for its Tizen-powered TVs at its annual Developer Conference (SDC) in San Jose on Thursday. The company said its smart TVs will soon gain advanced AI capabilities and Bixby enhancements. These upgrades improve the interoperability between Tizen and the Galaxy ecosystem, enabling richer big-screen experiences for Samsung users.

Samsung’s Tizen TVs get AI and Bixby upgrades

At SDC 2024, Samsung announced Tizen AI services powered by its Neural Processing Unit. These services enable deeper integration between the company’s TVs and small-sized electronics products, including Galaxy phones. Users will enjoy enhanced experiences, such as intelligently controlling echo and noise levels for TVs or video calls.

Samsung also unveiled new AI-powered features for its TVs. AI Cast will bring Generative AI to its big screens. Users can seamlessly transfer AI-generated results from their Galaxy phones to their smart TVs. It bridges the AI gap between different Samsung products. The company has been investing heavily in AI experiences for Galaxy users in recent years.

The journey began with the Galax S24 series early this year. Since then, Samsung has rolled out AI to millions of other devices. It also brought some AI features to Tizen smart TVs. The announcements at SDC promise a more comprehensive AI suite for the big screens. It could boost the popularity of the Tizen OS in the TV market and beyond.

Samsung is already the world’s largest TV maker — been a global leader for nearly two decades. The new AI enhancements could bolster its dominance. They create closer integration between mobile Galaxy devices and smart home systems. It remains to be seen how all these features will come together in real-world use. Samsung recently announced seven years of updates for its TVs, so the latest developments have been really promising for its TV users.
