Samsung has expanded its partnership with Hearst Media Production Group (HMPG) to add more than 500 hours of fresh new content to Samsung TV Plus. The expansion brings more of HMPG’s original programming to TV Plus viewers in the US. The ad-supported TV and video-on-demand service already offers a wide range of content to Samsung users for free.
Samsung TV Plus gets over 500 hours of HMPG content
Samsung TV Plus is a free video streaming service available on the company’s products, including smartphones and TVs. Powered by ads, the service offers over 2,500 linear channels across 24 countries. Samsung says the app is installed on over 561 million active devices globally. You can also access it on Galaxy tablets, smart monitors, Family Hub refrigerators, and the web.
Its extensive library of free content has made Samsung TV Plus the #1 free ad-supported app on the company’s smart TVs. Viewers in the US now have even more content to binge on. The expansion of Samsung and HMPG’s partnership brings the latter’s original programming to the platform. HMPG is a leading independent producer and distributor of unscripted programming.
Among the fresh additions are the weekly series Lucky Dog, Matter of Fact with Soledad O’Brien, Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom Protecting the Wild, and Harlem Globetrotters: Play It Forward. Samsung TV Plus users also get access to various shows hosted by renowned wildlife expert Jack Hanna and others. The service already offers HMPG’s Xplore, Rovr Pets, and The Jack Hanna Channel.
“In this evolving media landscape, we’re expanding the distribution and access of HMPG’s premium content reaching millions of new viewers,” said Frank Biancuzzo, HMPG president. The company’s senior vice president Andrew Tew echoed Biancuzzo’s sentiment. “Our vast library of iconic family-friendly and timely series continues to build audiences across all platforms. Samsung TV Plus is an ideal partner to advance our viewership footprint,” Tew added.
