Samsung has updated its trade-in offers for the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, making it easier to upgrade. You can now trade in your 2024 Watch Ultra, something that wasn’t allowed at launch last week. Plus, the company has bumped up the trade-in value for the Watch 7, giving fans even more incentive to make the switch to the new Classic with its iconic rotating bezel.

Galaxy Watch 8 Classic gets revised trade-in offers from Samsung

Samsung opened pre-orders for its new foldables and watches immediately after the official launch on July 9. As usual, early buyers are eligible for a handful of exclusive perks, like boosted trade-in values for their current devices. But when we tried to pre-order the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, we noticed something odd: the Watch Ultra (2024) wasn’t eligible for trade-in.

That caught a lot of people off guard. Many Watch Ultra owners were looking to swap their device for the new Classic, especially since it brings back the much-loved physical rotating bezel — one of Samsung’s signature features. So naturally, folks were disappointed to find the Ultra excluded, more so because Samsung didn’t explain why it was the only model left out.

We reached out to Samsung for clarity, and it turns out this was a mistake. The company has now corrected it, and you can trade in the Watch Ultra when buying the Watch 8 Classic. A Samsung rep confirmed the update to us, and the deal is actually pretty solid: you’ll get a $250 trade-in credit for the Ultra. This brings the Classic’s price down from $499 to just $249.

Additionally, Samsung has increased the trade-in credit for the Watch 7 from $200 to $250. That’s an even sweeter deal if the Watch 8 Classic is your type. The Galaxy Watch 6 Classic and Watch 5 Pro also save you up to $250 on the Watch 8 Classic. Note that these boosted trade-in values are available for a limited time, possibly until pre-orders last. Act fast, or you might miss out on this fantastic deal.
