Samsung continues to roll out the January 2026 security patch for its eligible wearable devices. A few days ago, the company released the patch for the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 5 series. Now, it has begun pushing the update to the Galaxy Watch 6 in South Korea, bringing a fresh batch of security improvements. Other regions, including the United States, are expected to follow up soon.

Galaxy Watch 6 grabs January 2026 security patch

In a Samsung community post, a Galaxy Watch 6 user has confirmed receiving the January 2026 security update in South Korea. The update carries the firmware version R935NKOS1CZA1 with a download size of 157.25MB. Note that the patch is currently available for the cellular (LTE) variant of the watch that bears model number SM-R935N.

According to the official changelog, the update mainly focuses on system security improvements to protect your Galaxy Watch 6 from the latest security threats. That said, security updates often include known bug fixes and stability enhancements, even if the company does not specify.

For example, the recent security update for the Galaxy Watch 5 improved lag issues in Quick Settings and Tiles. Similarly, the update released for the Galaxy Watch 4 likely addressed several issues, including inconsistent Always-On Display (AOD) behavior, performance drop, and poor battery life. So, you should install the January 2026 security patch on your Galaxy Watch 6 as soon as possible to ensure smoother performance as well.

To update, you need to first open the Galaxy Wearable app on your connected smartphone. Now, head over to Watch settings > Watch software update and then tap Download and install. Make sure your watch has enough battery power before starting the update. Samsung should roll out the January 2026 security patch to the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic and the Bluetooth variant of the Galaxy Watch 6 in the coming days. We will let you know once it becomes available. Stay tuned.
