Samsung has already rolled out the first round of the One UI 8.5 beta update, with the second beta now underway. It is currently limited to the Galaxy S25 trio, but Samsung may open the beta program to more devices. As expected, the Galaxy A55 will not be part of the One UI 8.5 beta testing. However, Samsung has begun testing the newer firmware for the device.

While it will not receive the beta update, that does not mean it is ineligible for the stable release. Samsung has already begun testing the One UI 8.5 firmware for the Galaxy A55, as spotted by Alfatürk on X. Simply put, this means the Galaxy A55 is one step closer to the next major update. The build version in question is A556EXXUBDYL2.

So while you cannot install or update your Galaxy A55 to One UI 8.5 just yet, you can at least be assured that Samsung has started the work. This also aligns well with the expected timeline, as the stable version is set to debut with the Galaxy S26 series. Samsung is reportedly sticking to the classic trio for its next flagship lineup. And all three phones will launch early 2026.

Moreover, the Galaxy A55 launched in 2024 and is promised four generations of Android OS upgrades. Since it debuted with Android 14-based One UI 6.1, it is eligible to receive updates through Android 18-based One UI 10, whenever that is announced. It will also receive an additional year of security updates.
