Samsung has been rolling out big updates to the Galaxy Watch family lately, but without any major new features. We speculated that the company could be preparing for the next major One UI Watch upgrade. That seems to be the case, as new One UI Watch beta firmware for the Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra recently surfaced on Samsung’s servers.

Samsung may be readying the One UI 7 Watch update for the Galaxy Watch lineup

Earlier this month, Samsung finally released the stable One UI 7 update for Galaxy smartphones and tablets. The update is now available for a handful of flagship devices released over the past two years. The company will gradually expand the rollout, covering more models globally. Meanwhile, it also appears to be preparing the One UI 7 Watch update for its Wear OS smartwatches.

X user @Theordysm recently spotted a One UI Watch beta firmware with the build number ZYDA on Samsung’s servers. The beta firmware is available for the Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra. While no other information is available, it looks like the Korean firm has begun internal testing of One UI 7 Watch.

The Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra shipped with One UI 6 Watch out of the box. Samsung might open the beta version of the next update for these two models first, before expanding to other models. In terms of availability, the One UI 6 Watch beta was limited to the US and South Korea. It’s unclear if the next version will see a wider beta release.

Samsung might ship One UI 7 Watch out of the box on the Galaxy Watch 8 series, which could go official in July. The beta program may debut a few weeks before the Watch 8 launch, or maybe later. Based on Wear OS 6, this update could bring Gemini support, improved customizations, enhanced support for Tiles, Samsung Health upgrades, and new health features.
