A few days ago, we reported on Samsung’s ongoing firmware development for the Galaxy Z Flip FE, an upcoming affordable foldable. It appears the company has sped up the process, as it recently uploaded test builds for more regions to its servers. The device looks set for launch in Europe, India, the UAE, and several other Asian countries.
Galaxy Z Flip FE firmware spotted for multiple markets
The Galaxy Z Flip FE is expected to carry the model number SM-F761. Interestingly, based on Samsung’s usual naming conventions, this model number seems more fitting for next year’s Galaxy Z Flip 8 or even this year’s Flip 7 rather than a Fan Edition device — here’s why we think so. However, Samsung likely has its own reasoning behind this choice.
That said, there’s still no official confirmation that SM-F761 belongs to the Flip FE and not the Flip 7. For the time being, let’s assume it is the Flip FE. What’s clear is that Samsung is actively developing firmware for this device, bringing it one step closer to launch. Tipster Tarun Vats recently spotted test firmware for the upcoming foldable for India, the UAE, and more regions.
This solidifies the Galaxy Z Flip FE’s global launch, though there’s still no word on its availability in North America or other key markets. Samsung allegedly plans to ship the foldable with its in-house Exynos 2500, its first 3nm mobile processor. The chip still has a low yield rate. If it doesn’t improve soon, the company might be forced to limit the Flip FE to select markets.
Otherwise, the device is shaping up to be a compelling addition to Samsung’s foldable lineup. It might be a rebadged Galaxy Z Flip 6 with a few key tweaks, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. If Samsung prices it aggressively, the Flip FE could easily become a fan-favorite, bringing foldable technology to a wider audience. Stay tuned for more updates.
