UPDATE (April 8, 2026): We recently dug deeper, and it appears Samsung may not launch a fourth foldable with the model number SM-F977 this year. The batteries bearing the identifiers EB-BF977DAY and EB-BF977DAE may belong to the Galaxy Z Fold 8 (SM-F976). As such, we may only see three Samsung foldables debuting in 2026.

The original article, published on April 6, 2026, follows:

Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Flip 8, and a Wide Fold model later this year. Now, a new battery listing on China’s 3C certification suggests that the company may be working on one more foldable device for a 2026 launch. Not much is known about this mysterious fourth model, though.

3C listing hints at a mystery Galaxy Fold model

The battery appears in two variants: EB-BF977DAY and EB-BF977DAE. It is linked to the model number SM-F977, which is unusual as this model has not surfaced in any previous leaks. Based on Samsung’s naming pattern, the “F9**” series is typically associated with Fold devices. Therefore, this suggests that the device could belong to the Fold lineup and be a Galaxy Z Fold 8 FE, another Wide Fold variant, TriFold 2, or even a test device.

The listing shows a 2,485 mAh unit, which may seem low at first. However, it is the secondary battery, so expect the total capacity to be around 5,000mAh or more. Samsung has always adopted a dual-cell battery design for its foldables, which allows for even weight distribution across the device.

That said, this information is still very early and not fully confirmed. The appearance of a new model number raises questions about how many foldables Samsung plans to launch this year. If this device turns out to be real, Samsung could introduce four foldables. These would be the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Flip 8, the Wide Fold, and this mystery model.

For the uninitiated, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 should carry the model number SM-F976*, while the Galaxy Z Flip 8 should be SM-F776*. The Wide Fold may bear the identifier SM-F971*, though it better fits for an FE model. Samsung’s current model numbering appears inconsistent, which adds to the confusion around what the fourth model could be.

For now, it’s too early to confirm anything. It will be interesting to see how this develops in the coming months. We’ll keep you updated.
