Vivo’s recent launches have put many phone makers to shame, especially when it comes to the camera. Take, for example, the Vivo X100 and X200 series, which have garnered praise from both reviewers and consumers alike. Now, the Chinese company is gearing up to debut the sequel, the Vivo X200 Ultra.
Samsung will helm the Vivo X200 Ultra’s camera
The Vivo X200 Ultra is expected to feature a triple-camera setup on the back, according to Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station. It will house a 50MP + 50MP + 200MP arrangement. One will offer a wide-angle lens, another an ultra-wide lens, and the 200MP camera will serve as a periscope telephoto lens.
Vivo X200 Ultra’s ultra-wide camera will likely use the Samsung ISOCELL JN1 sensor, while the telephoto camera could be equipped with the Samsung ISOCELL HP9 sensor, SamMobile reports. Additionally, the device could pack a Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC under the hood. This same flagship processor is expected in all three Galaxy S25 models, launching next month during Galaxy Unpacked.
Vivo X200 Ultra is coming around March and April 2025
Coming back to the cameras, this isn’t the first time Vivo has teamed up with Samsung for camera tech. The X200 Pro already uses Samsung sensors for its ultra-wide and telephoto lenses. And it’s been earning equally high praises. While many might see this as just another win for Vivo, the accolades should also be heading to Suwon-si.
That said, the Vivo X200 Ultra is expected to release sometime between March and April next year. This is earlier than the X100 Ultra’s launch timeline, which debuted in May 2024. We’ll have to wait and see how it stacks up against the upcoming Galaxy S25 Ultra, rumored to feature the same 200MP camera as its predecessor. However, we believe it could benefit from upgraded software processing and improved algorithms. Some upcoming AI-powered camera features could also enhance the results.
