Samsung has released a new update for the beta version of Samsung Internet for PC. The update brings a key security improvement for Samsung Pass through Windows sign-in verification. All beta testers should have already received the latest enhancement through the browser’s automatic update system.

Samsung improves security on the PC version of Samsung Internet

It has been more than two months since Samsung launched the beta version of Samsung Internet for PC. As of now, the browser is available in select regions, including the United States and South Korea. It supports Windows 10 (version 1809 and later) and Windows 11.

Samsung continues to push regular updates for its PC beta browser to improve the user experience ahead of the pubic release. The latest beta version 29.0.0.148 focuses on bolstering security for Samsung Pass users. According to the changelog, “Samsung Pass on Samsung Internet now requires verification using your Windows sign-in method for enhanced security.”

For the uninitiated, Samsung Pass is a secure password and identity management service. It lets users save login details, personal information, and other sensitive data, and then sign in to websites and apps quickly. On top of that, it adds a security layer by requiring biometric authentication, such as fingerprints or facial recognition, to access that information.

On PC, Samsung Pass now requires Windows sign-in verification before users can access saved credentials. This should include Windows Hello options such as a fingerprint, facial recognition, or a PIN. That means even if someone has access to a computer, they cannot see Samsung Pass stored credentials without Windows authentication.

So far, Samsung has released eight beta builds of Samsung Internet for PC. Previous updates have fixed the delayed display of homepage shortcut icons, improved text input visibility in the search bar, improved Galaxy AI translation, and more. We will let you know when the PC browser reaches the stable channel.
