The Galaxy S26 Series has yet to be unveiled, and we already have fresh rumors of the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8. Analyst Jukan on X has revealed what’s ahead, and it appears Samsung isn’t looking to experiment anymore. Apple is soon to step into the foldable market, potentially taking a considerable portion of the foldable market share from the Korean giant. Samsung plans to tackle that with major upgrades next year.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 may bring a multi-generational improvement

Rumors claim that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will feature a metal backplate, made of Titanium and CFRP (carbon fiber-reinforced plastic). This design aims to minimize stress from repeated folding, thereby reducing the chance of a visible crease. Meanwhile, Samsung is going to supply Apple with this same backplate technology for its first foldable device.

The S Pen is, once again, rumored to make its return. However, if Samsung is keen on keeping the same slim form factor as the Galaxy Z Fold 7 at 8.9mm, this would mean that the company has resolved previous issues during mass production and created an S Pen that doesn’t require a digitizer.

Additionally, rumors suggest the Galaxy Z Fold 8 boosts battery capacity over 12%, jumping from 4400mAh to beyond 5000mAh. If true, Samsung looks fully prepared to challenge Apple’s first foldable.

As with all rumors and leaks, take this with a pinch of salt. As amazing as these upgrades are, it does leave a cause for concern: price. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 received a $100 price increase over its predecessor. Despite the Galaxy Z Flip 7’s many upgrades, the Exynos chipset helped retain the same price. It will be interesting to see if Samsung will be willing to absorb costs once again.
