Samsung Prioritizes Design Over Battery Upgrades for Galaxy S25

by | Sep 17, 2024 | Galaxy S, News

Samsung is hard at work on its next-gen flagship smartphones. The company will launch three Galaxy S25 models in early 2025. Leaks have already disclosed plenty about the devices, particularly the Ultra model. A new leak now gives us the battery capacity for all three models. As expected, Samsung is sticking with the same battery size as its predecessor, focusing instead on making the device slimmer and more compact.

Galaxy S25 phones will feature an unchanged battery

According to GalaxyClub, the Galaxy S25+ packs a battery with a rated capacity of 4,755mAh, the same as the S24+. Samsung should advertise it as a typical capacity of 4,900mAh. In other words, the battery capacity will remain unchanged. This has been separately confirmed by tipster Ice Universe, who says the base Galaxy S25 and S25 Ultra will feature unchanged batteries too — 4,000mAh and 5,000mAh respectively.

This isn’t bad news. The Galaxy S24 series already delivers excellent battery life. The 2025 models should improve upon that thanks to a more efficient 3nm processor ((Exynos 2500 or Snapdragon 8 Gen 4)), more efficient OLED materials (M14 or newer), and advanced power management tools. The charging speed should remain the same too — 45W for the Plus and Ultra models, and 25W for the base Galaxy S25.

Leaks suggest Samsung’s primary focus for the Galaxy S25 series is design. The company has made the new phones thinner (by 0.4mm) and more compact. They are expected to be the thinnest and lightest models in their respective segments. Samsung has reduced bezels to keep big screens in smaller sizes. The new phones should also offer some notable hardware and software upgrades, including more RAM and AI features.

Industry insiders say Samsung plans to compete against Apple rather than other Android brands in the flagship segment. It is doing all in its power to make the Galaxy S25 aesthetically and functionally superior to the iPhone 16 series. In addition to design improvements, Samsung is working on delivering a smoother user experience, all while preserving the customizability and rich features of its One UI Android skin. Exciting times are on the horizon for Galaxy fans as the firm continues to refine both form and function.
