Samsung’s next wave of Galaxy A series phones is starting to take shape. After introducing the Galaxy A26, Galaxy A36, and Galaxy A56 last year, the company is now preparing their successors, and the Galaxy A27 has just shown its first signs of life.

Galaxy A27 inches one step closer to launch, spotted on IMEI database

The upcoming Galaxy A27 has surfaced in the GSMA IMEI database (via Erencan Yılmaz), carrying model numbers SM-A276B/DS and SM-A276U, confirming that both global and US variants are in development. The “B” model is typically tied to international markets, while “U” indicates a US release. The DS label suggests dual SIM, which isn’t unusual.

The listing doesn’t reveal hardware specifications, network bands, or chipset details. Still, devices usually pass through GSMA IMEI registration in the later stages of development. This means the Galaxy A27 is likely moving closer to certification and launch.

What made it more notable was that even though the Galaxy A57 and Galaxy A37 had already passed regulatory certification and appeared in the GSMA IMEI database, there was no such sign of the Galaxy A27. That even led one of our writers to wonder whether Samsung was skipping the release or delaying the Galaxy A27. The picture is clear now, and the article has since been updated with the latest information.

Samsung has kept a fairly consistent design language across its mid-range lineup. Hence, the Galaxy A27 is expected to follow the same minimalist rear camera layout. There were earlier murmurs about an early-year debut. But Samsung may stagger launches depending on how it positions the upcoming Galaxy S26 lineup. We’ll see when the Galaxy A27 launches. Stay tuned.
