The Galaxy S24 series, released last year, was indeed great but had one major flaw: the notorious grainy effect on the display at low brightness levels. Thankfully, Samsung may have finally fixed the grainy display issue with the Galaxy S25 trio.
Samsung may have fixed the grainy display issue with Galaxy S25 Ultra
It might not seem like a big upgrade but think of those who use their phones in low light. Or keep phones close while sleeping, this is a welcome fix. As shown by tipster Ice Universe (now retracted), Samsung appears to have finally addressed the grainy display issue with the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
In a side-by-side comparison, Ice Universe showed the Galaxy S25 Ultra next to the S24 Ultra in a dark setting. The S24 Ultra’s display looks grainy at low brightness, while the S25 Ultra appears smoother. There are no noticeable grainy patches. If anything, this suggests Samsung has tackled the issue, at least on the S25 Ultra.
It’s unclear if the fix extends across the entire S25 lineup or is exclusive to the Ultra model. We’ll assume it applies to all and will test it ourselves to confirm. While this might seem like a minor improvement, it matters to those sensitive to screen quality in dim settings. Interestingly, Ice Universe had previously called for a class-action lawsuit over the same problem in the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Now, it looks like Samsung has finally taken action.
Samsung hasn’t officially addressed what caused the issue in the first place, but if the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s screen quality holds up, it’s a step in the right direction. For those who rely on their phone’s display in low light, this could be a surprisingly useful improvement.
