A high-ranking Samsung official has allegedly confirmed that the Exynos 2500 will power the next Flip foldable. The company plans to use the delayed 3nm chip in the Galaxy Z Flip 7 globally. It may also ship the Galaxy Z Flip FE with an Exynos chip, possibly the Exynos 2400. The upcoming Galaxy S25 series will run Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite.
Galaxy Z Flip 7 “confirmed” to get Samsung’s Exynos 2500 processor
Originally planned for the Galaxy S25 series, Samsung delayed the Exynos 2500’s mass production due to poor 3nm yield and performance issues. Its 3nm yield is still below the competition, though the company appears to have started limited mass production. Unlike the Exynos 2300, the Korean firm hasn’t canceled the chip, even though it won’t be used in Galaxy S flagships.
Rumors are rife about the Exynos 2500 potentially powering the Galaxy Z Flip 7 next year. The same has been “confirmed” by a high-level Samsung executive, The Elec reports. The Korean publication didn’t name the executive but cited sources with direct knowledge of the matter. It will be the first Galaxy foldable to feature an Exynos processor.
In fact, Samsung could launch two Exynos-powered foldables next year, including an entry-level Fan Edition (FE) Flip model. To keep costs down, this foldable could feature the previous-gen Exynos 2400 instead of the Exynos 2500. There’s also a possibility that the Flip FE could ship with the Exynos 2400e, the same processor used in the Galaxy S24 FE earlier this year.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy S25 lineup is all set to go official in January with an overclocked Snapdragon 8 Elite. Samsung may launch four models this time — a Slim model to go with the regular three options — all with the same chipset. The launch event may take place in San Jose, USA on January 22, 2025. General sales may begin around February 7.
