When Samsung released its slimmest Galaxy S25 Edge smartphone, many people were quick to say, Only 3900mAh battery? But the truth is, the battery performance is not as weak as some think — it’s actually quite impressive and can last a full day in normal usage. The reason is that Samsung made the battery more efficient by increasing the energy density.

Galaxy S25 Edge’s 3900mAh battery should not be a problem for most users

To achieve a thickness of just 5.8mm in the Galaxy S25 Edge, Samsung had to compromise on its battery size. This made some buyers hesitate, even though the phone is attractive with its slim design, powerful performance, primary camera, and large screen. In comparison, the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s 5000mAh battery has an energy density of 727Wh/L. This suggests the Korean firm put effort into maximizing efficiency rather than just increasing size.

Samsung lost thousands of Galaxy S25 Edge sales during pre-order, as battery life was the biggest concern for many buyers. However, a company executive recently said that the Galaxy S25 Edge delivers better battery life than the Galaxy S24 and comes close to the Galaxy S25. In fact, we agree with that statement — during our moderate usage, the phone lasted a full day.

Simply put, Samsung made a smart trade-off to achieve a slim design while still delivering reliable battery life. As for why Samsung didn’t use a silicon-carbon anode battery in the Galaxy S25 Edge, tipster Ice Universe said it would be too risky due to heat dissipation and expansion stress.
