Samsung’s One UI 7 update has hit a roadblock due to bugs. Luckily, this doesn’t impact the rollout of the April security update. The company recently rolled out the April security maintenance release (SMR) for the Galaxy S21 FE and Galaxy A36. The former isn’t getting One UI 7 anytime soon, while the latter ran the new One UI version out of the box.

April security update available for the Galaxy S21 FE and Galaxy A36

The Galaxy S21 FE is currently receiving Samsung’s April security update in India. Its new firmware build number in the region is G990B2XXSBGYC9. The same security update is rolling out to the Galaxy A36 in Europe, where the device picks up firmware version A366BXXS2AYC4. Both devices are getting nothing more than this month’s security fixes.

Samsung recently revealed that the April SMR for Galaxy devices patches over 60 vulnerabilities, including a few critical flaws. This update also contains patches for an Exynos security issue affecting several chips. The Galaxy S24’s Exynos 2400 processor is among the affected models. This month’s security release also addresses several less-severe security flaws across various device components.

The Korean firm will soon roll out the April security update for more Galaxy devices. It has been pushing the new SMR bundled with the One UI 7 update for the Galaxy S24, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Flip 6. While the big OS update has been suspended, it shouldn’t be long before Samsung resumes the rollout. Other models should get a standalone security release ahead of One UI 7.

We will let you know when Samsung resumes the One UI 7 rollout or pushes the April SMR to more devices. You can also manually check for updates from the Settings app. Go to Settings > Software update > Download and install to see if a new update is available for your Galaxy smartphone or tablet.
