Qualcomm Unveils Snapdragon X2 Plus Chip for Windows Laptops

Qualcomm has announced its latest processor for Windows laptops, the Snapdragon X2 Plus. The chip offers faster performance, longer battery life, and seamless multitasking for budget-friendly laptops. It will power select devices from leading OEMs, available in the first half of 2026. Samsung could also launch a Galaxy Book 6 Edge with the Snapdragon X2 Plus.

Qualcomm expands Snapdragon X series with new X2 Plus chip

The Snapdragon X2 Plus joins Qualcomm’s high-end Snapdragon X Series. The chip sits below the previously announced Snapdragon X2 Elite and X2 Elite Extreme chips. It succeeded last year’s Snapdragon X Plus and comes as a cheaper option for Windows 11 Copilot+ laptops.

Built on a 3nm node, the Snapdragon X2 Plus features Qualcomm’s 3rd Generation Oryon CPU. It delivers up to 35% faster single-core performance than the predecessor while using 43% less power. The processor comes in two versions: a 10-core and a 6-core. The former has 6 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores, while the latter has 6 performance cores only. Both versions have a maximum multi-core frequency of 4.0 GHz, with 34 MB and 22 MB of cache, respectively.

In the Graphics segment, Snapdragon X2 Plus uses the Adreno X2-45 GPU. The 10-core version runs at 1.7 GHz, while the 6-core version runs at 0.9 GHz. Furthermore, the chip features Qualcomm’s Hexagon Neural Processing Unit (NPU), delivering up to 80 TOPS. This allows laptops to handle next-gen AI features for agentic experiences while making multitasking smoother.

The Snapdragon X2 Plus chip supports blazing-fast Wi-Fi 7 and optional 5G connectivity for a reliable internet connection. For security, Qualcomm has integrated Snapdragon Guardian for advanced protection of personal data. Thanks to chips’ ability to make devices incredibly energy-efficient, they should offer multi-day battery life.

While Samsung hasn’t announced a Snapdragon X2 Plus product yet, it has been launching Edge-branded Galaxy Book laptops with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chips. As such, we might see a Galaxy Book 6 Edge at some point this year. The Galaxy Book 6, 6 Pro, and 6 Ultra, launched at CES 2026, run on Intel Core Ultra processors.
