One UI 7.0 Brings Separate Notification Controls for AOD and Lockscreen

Samsung is accelerating its efforts to roll out the One UI 7.0 beta update. Expected to arrive this month, it should bring several new features, including AI tools. On top of this, the company will provide an option to separately manage notifications on the Always-On Display (AOD) and lockscreen for Galaxy users.

One UI 7.0 will let you separately manage AOD and lockscreen notifications

Recently, a Galaxy user took to the official community forum to report an issue with the AOD wallpaper. Despite setting their Galaxy S24 Ultra to not show notification icons on the AOD via the LockStar Good Lock module, the icons appear. No customizations or settings help remove the icons from the AOD wallpaper without affecting the lockscreen.

It turns out there’s no way to do it. AOD wallpapers are relatively new and settings for notifications on the AOD and lockscreen are linked together. Any changes made to the lock screen settings automatically affect the AOD. A Samsung Community moderator confirmed this. But the good news is that the company plans to change this on One UI 7.0.

According to the forum moderator, who handles GoodLock-related complaints, the upcoming major update will provide separate settings for notifications on the AOD and lockscreen. This addresses the issue users are reporting on community forums. The new settings should arrive with a separate update for the LockStar module following the release of One UI 7.0 later this year.

Well, Samsung hasn’t even started One UI 7.0 beta, so we can’t precisely tell if the stable update will arrive before the end of 2024. However, we hope it does. The Korean firm is hosting its annual developer conference tomorrow, October 3. It may announce a timeline for the One UI 7.0 beta release at the event. We will let you know if it does, so stay tuned.
